Becky Loves New Site!

Discussion / Message Board   & other changes    17 May 02 by: Steve

I have added a Discussion / Message Board to the Web Site.  I am currently testing it, so feel free to use it and give me Feedback on how it's working.  I will fine tune this as I see the need, eventually I expect to have separate Message Boards based on Topic, ie, one for prayer requests, one for Bible questions, etc.  I will moderate the board and reserve the right to remove articles or posts if they are inappropriate.  I have also made several changes to the site, including adding a random quotes section, a scrolling message.  Bear with me on the random quotes section, Becky is typing in verses from the Bible as quick as she can, she has to replace over 160 pre-existing quotes.  Eventually all the quotes will be Bible verses.  I have also streamlined the process for sending feedback and messages to those who post articles.  You'll see these changes when you click on someone's name.  I have also added an audio section - the only current audio file is a 30 minute sermon.  Look on the left hand side of this page for links to it.

Could We?  Would We?            17 May 02 by: Steve

Could we, Would we, follow Moses out into a desert for 40 years?  Could we, Would we, love our brothers, if Jesus said it?  Could we, Would we pay our tithes if Malachi demanded it?  Could we, Would we, take that first step into a parted sea, with the waters high on either side, if Moses ok'd it?  Could we, Would we, get out of the boat if Jesus asked it?  Could we, Would we, march around a city if Joshua told us to do so?  Could We, Would we,  build an ark if Noah advised us to do so?  Could We, Would we, repent if John the Baptist gave us the warning?  Could we, Would we, sell all that we have and give it to the poor and follow Jesus, if Jesus told us to do so?  Could we, would we, submit?   Could we answer these questions?  Would we be satisfied with the answers?  Would HE?

Lord, help me overcome.  Strengthen my faith, for I am weak.

Lukewarm isn't going to cut it...      16 May 02 by: Steve

I am always disturbed when I hear people rationalizing why it's ok to be "lukewarm".  Maybe because in the past, I've been so good at that kind of rationalization myself.  It's never stated in quite those words, I mean, who would actually say such a thing?  Yet I see this a lot in people's actions, and in their words.  I've seen preachers, and even myself recently, accused of being too zealous.  Folks, I'm not sure you can really be too zealous, I believe we're not zealous enough.   When a person is zealous in following God, I think it makes other people uncomfortable, very uncomfortable.  Many times I've seen the Word compromised because a preacher has compromised the Word for the sake of peace in a church.   It's almost like there is a resentment built up towards one who will not compromise the Word.  And when the message goes out to truly LIVE and FOLLOW the Word of God, watch the fur fly then!  Or even worse, watch the rationalizations on why we can NOT follow the Word begin.  Or even worse, how we rationalize with ourselves that we are living the Word when it is apparent we are not.  I don't have any great insights or answers to this, I'm just a little down because it saddens me to see it.  I'm just a simple man trying my best to follow God and live the Word.  The sad thing is, I don't think that's being zealous.  In fact, I'm not zealous enough by a long shot.  I'm not trying to appear "holier than thou" or better than anyone else.  I repeat, I'm not nearly zealous enough.  But we'd better get zealous about the Lord because I'll tell you this folks -  The Book of Revelation, Chapter 3, Verse 16 addresses the issue of being "lukewarm" very clearly -- And being Lukewarm just isn't going to cut it.   It probably could be said that Jesus was an extremist, fanatical, zealous.  And we run from people like that don't we?  Be religious, just don't push me, don't offend me, isn't that the train of thought?  I wonder how many of us would turn away from Jesus today if he was among us and just didn't tell us his name?  Look at yourself and answer that question honestly - the answer might scare you.

Updates and time               13 May 02 by: Steve

I will be updating the Web site more frequently starting approximately 17 May 02.  That's when all my college finals are over!  I will take a strong look at the website and make changes as needed.  I will be posting more articles and devotions from myself as well as from others.  Don't hesitate to Submit Articles if you have something that would be useful to the readers.  Due to several requests, I will probably add several MP3 music files in about a month.  I will probably make changes to the site as I learn how to!  I am considering several other options, such as including a Discussion Board, if I get enough requests for one.
